Add and Remove language packs in Windows 8

In this post I’m going to tell you how you can change the language packs in a Windows 8 install. Not everyone in this world speaks English and because of this, you may want to add your mother tongues language pack to your PC. Some people even do this when they’re learning a new language to keep them on their toes! Microsoft allows you to both remove and add any language packs and this is what we’re going to be looking at today.

So first of all, hit your Windows Key so that you show up at the start screen. From there, type in ‘add a language’, as shown in the screenshot. Make sure that you click on ‘Settings’ and not Apps, otherwise the option will not show.

After clicking on that option, find the ‘Add a Language’  option on the window that pops up. You will then be taken to a screen where you can choose the language pack that you want.

Click add a language

Simply choose your preferred language pack and then click the ‘Add’ button near the bottom of the window.

Choose your language

After choosing your language pack, you will be taken back to the first window. Where you find both your default language pack and your new chosen one. However, you cannot use it just yet. Double click on the new language pack and you will be taken to another screen.

Install

When on this screen, simply hit ‘Download and Install language pack’. Upon clicking this option, the language pack will be downloaded from the internet. Depending upon your connection, this should only take a few minutes. After it has downloaded, simply reboot your system and you’re done!

Want to remove a language pack? Easy!

Just like in the first step, hit your Windows Key so that you show up at the start screen. From there, type in ‘add a language’, as shown in the screenshot. Make sure that you click on ‘Settings’ and not Apps and open the window.

It really is as simple that. Now you should be a master at adding and removing language packs on your Windows 8 install!
