Instagram announced on Thursday that adverts are to make their way to the picture-based social network. Facebook paid $1 billion in cash and stock for the site back in April and led many analysts to ponder just how Facebook could turn a profit on Instagram.
On Thursday, Instagram revealed that the site monetisation will start slowly with “a focus on delivering a small number of beautiful, high-quality photos and videos from a handful of brands that are already great members of the Instagram community.” If you’re an Instagram user and you don’t like an advert that shows up, the advert can be hidden and feedback sent to explain just why you didn’t like it.
