Apple App Store rakes in $10bn in downloads in 2013

Apple has revealed some 2013 sales figures from the app store, and they make for happy reading.

The figures show that customers spent more than $10 billion on the App Store last year, spending over $1 billion in December alone. That $1 billion equated to customers downloading over  3 billion applications over that month.

Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice-president of internet software and services, paid homage to a line-up of “astonishing” apps, including some “surprise” hits, such as Moves Afterlight.

Overall though, Apple Developers have earned $15 billion on the App Store since it’s conception.
