Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from KGI securities revealed in a research note on Saturday that a new, lower-cost version of the iMac Desktop is in the works. He believes that the lower pricingwill boost overall iMac shipments by between 10 and 20 percent year on year in 2014.The most ‘affordable’ iMac currently on sale is around $1,299. According to Kuo, less than expected iMacs were sold worldwide after Apple updated them with a redesign in late 2012. Kup personally believes that the price was set too high and this has prompted Apple to begin work on a new “budget iMac model” in order to drive up shipments in non-US markets.
