It’s no secret that Microsoft really put together some momentum in 2013. Due in part to the platform showcasing both low-end phones (think Lumia 520/521) and even going in at the higher end of the spectrum (Lumia 1520) and now, thanks to the GDR3 update, Windows Phone OEMs can now build devices equal in specifications to any Android phone.

According to Christopher Flores, director of communications for Microsoft, Windows Phone is gaining traction on both ends of the market.  Flores claims that Windows Phone is the second most popular platform in 14 markets worldwide. For those that don’t feel happy enough with those stats, Flores also claims that Windows Phone is outselling Apple in 24 worldwide markets. He adds that Windows Phone is the fastest growing platform globally.
