An Apple patent which was published by the US Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday describes a headphone connector that uses flexible parts in order to protect against accidental breakage and equipment damage. The “Flexible TRS connector” patent outlines a number of different designs and scenarios where a headphone connector is partially made from flexible materials. By using these flexible parts, the connector would be able withstand some moderate bending, which would break existing connectors.
