BlackBerry Messenger for iOS was submitted two weeks ago, awaiting approval

BlackBerry said that it would release Android and iOS versions of it’s BlackBerry Messenger app in the summer. Summer is nearly over which means that we should be seeing the app hit App Stores soon. Today, a BlackBerry executive announced that the iOS version was submitted to Apple two weeks ago and is currently awaiting approval before going live. It would be reasonable to assume that the Android version would go live on the same day that the iOS version is approved as Google Play has no approval process.

BBM for Android has been in beta for awhile now and from what we’ve seen of the app, it actually looks pretty nifty. There will be a few features missing at the launch, namely BBM Voice, BBM Video and screen sharing, but they are planned to be added in Autumn.
