Don’t install ‘Play’ disc on GTA V

According to the Grand Theft Auto Five developers, Rockstar, it is suggested that Microsoft Xbox 360 gamers do not install the ‘play’ disk.

The Xbox game comes with two disks; one which is a one-time 8 GB installation and the other one being the second ‘play’ disk.

Whilst the Xbox dashboard allows people to install any game they want onto their console and then just having the disk in too as proof that you own the game, the developers of the Grand Theft Auto game have suggested you don’t install the ‘play’ disk and only install the needed 8 GB install disk upon starting the game.

“For optimal performance, we recommend not installing the play disc,” it said via Twitter.

No specific reason has been given as to why this is however the CVG team have speculated that it may be due to the way that the game likely streams data from both the ‘play’ disk and the console’s hard drive from the original installation simultaneously in order to provide the best load speeds for the big game.

There is also a chance that installing this ‘play’ disk may then cause confusion between the data of the two disks and therefore cause too much processing power used on just the hard drive which will slow down your experience.

The Playstation 3 version will also require a 8 GB installation but this will all come on one disk most likely due to the Blueray possibilities that Sony’s Playstation 3 has.

Grand Theft Auto V is set to launch at midnight in the United Kingdom where people will be able to play the highly anticipated game. Should you so wish, you can read Computer and Video Games GTA V review here and get some idea of what to expect before buying the game.
