EA states relationship with Sony is ‘very good’

EA executive, Frank Gibeau states that the apparent partnership with Xbox One develop, Microsoft, has been wrongly “perceived as strategic tilt”, which he calls a “messaging error” on his companies part.

Titanfall will be coming out at launch as a Xbox console exclusive along every Xbox One sold at launch containing a free copy of FIFA 14 (with added features as a Xbox One owner). This suggests their is a strong partnership between EA and Microsoft.

FIFA 14’s Ultimate Team Legends is what will be exclusive to Xbox consoles, as well as EA announcing that the first Battlefield 4 DLC will debut on the Xbox One. XBOX One

Despite this interesting line up of deals between Microsoft and EA, Frank Gibeau insists that the developer is cross platform friendly and they enjoy a “very good” relationship with the creators of the Playstation 4 console.

Gibeau states that “We’re changing nothing in our policy about being platform-agnostic,”. “One of the things that struck me this week is how a tactical deal with one of our platform partners has been blown out and perceived as strategic tilt – that’s a messaging error on our part. There is no strategic tilt.

“The Sony platform and the Xbox platform are both very important to us. If you look at the previous generation we did tactical deals with both Sony and Microsoft throughout the cycle. Titanfall is different, it’s an EA Partners game – everything else is platform agnostic.”

EA said that it is in interest that all consoles do well and congratulate Sony on the reveal of the PS4 and all the hard work since then.

“Sony has been executing exceptionally well on the next-gen transition. Their hardware’s hot, they’re clear and disciplined and consistent with their policies, they are showing some amazing things with indies, so overall I couldn’t be more pleased with how they’re executing.”

There may also be some exclusive PS4 titles developed by EA after Gibeau stated “It’s a long cycle, and certainly there’s potential with Sony exclusivity deals too.” There will be around 8 or so years so there has to be some PS4 partnerships come.
