Google have announced the next major version of Android. Android 4.4 KitKat. This reiteration of Android brings in the first ever product tie-in for an Android nickname. However, it isn’t just a little name play here, KitKat has released a commercial to milk the publicity.
The news has come as somewhat of a surprise however, as Google has previously indicated that it intended to call the 4.4 version of Android, Key Lime Pie.
However, Google said to the BBC that it had come up with the idea and that the two companies were not paying eachother.”This is not a money-changing-hands kind of deal,” John Lagerling, director of Android global partnerships, told the BBC.
He added that the idea was to do something “fun and unexpected”.
