It seems like Facebook was not the only interested party in WhatsApp. According to a report from Forbes Google offered $10 billion for the acquisition of WhatsApp but the team behind WhatsApp turned it down. Unlike Facebook’s proposal Google’s proposal didn’t come with the promise of a board seat, may be this was the reason for the turn down. The turn down of Google’s proposal turned out to be too good for them, after all they were able to bag almost $16 billion and $3 billion in stock options for WhatsApp employees.
