LG G Pad 10.1 Now Available at Best Buy for $250

The new LG G Pad 10.1 is the latest addition to LG’s family of value-oriented Android powered tablets. It was launched at the LG G3 launch on May 27, 2014 in London. It has a 10.1 inch IPS LCD display. The LG G Pad comes with a 10.1 inch LCD display with a surprisingly low resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels for a screen of that size which gives it a pixel density of a mere 149 ppi. The contrast ratio stands roughly at 1000:1. The screen is, of course, not the sharpest but it is  still decently bright.

The LG G Pad is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 ARM Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and has 1 GB of RAM. It seems that the specifications of the G Pad weren’t enhanced proportionally to its screen size. It runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 out of the box and houses 16 GB internal memory which can be increased by using a microSD card.

The 5 MP rear-facing camera with the ability to shoot HD videos isn’t exceptional but is decent for a tablet of this range. It also has a 1.3 MP front-facing shooter. There are two speakers placed at both sides of the G Pad for a better sound experience. At less than 9 mm thickness and 523 g weight, it is not the thinnest and lightest among its competitors but still feels comfortable in hands. All the low-end specifications aside the G Pad has a gigantic 8000 mAh non-removable battery unit that will ensure longer usage time.

There are some interesting features in the G Pad 10.1. It comes equipped with an Infrared blaster which can be used as a remote control for your other devices.  On the software front, the G Pad also has some pretty cool features right out of the G3, including QPair. It effectively pairs up your smartphone with the tablet to enable you to take calls on your tablet over Bluetooth in the speaker mode. There’s also LG dual window feature which is great for multitasking. Another interesting feature is the Knock Code which lets you unlock your tablet using a pattern of knocks on the screen which works on multiple locations.

The G Pad comes only in the non-LTE variant at this point but it will also be available in 3G & WiFi, and 4G/LTE & WiFi variants. This tablet is now available both in stores and online from Bestbuy.com for only $249.99.
