Microsoft have today stated said that the date listed for the Xbox One’s release on Amazon is simply a placeholder.

Last week we told how Xbox One release date may have been inadvertently revealed by Amazon but Microsoft have since moved to dis-spell these rumors and misconceptions surrounding the release date for its Xbox One console.

Microsoft issued a statement saying that the release date listed on Amazon is just a placeholder.

“We have not informed our retail partners about a specific launch date for the Xbox One,” Microsoft told EGM. “It is commonplace for retailers to put placeholders dates and prices into our system until they are given a specific date and price. We are excited to release the Xbox One in November 2013.”

Since the news broke that Microsoft have reversed some of their much-hated policies, the Xbox One has shot up the charts to the top of Amazon’s pre-order charts. This reversal by Microsoft was likely bought about by the public outcry from gamers worldwide after Sony’s announcement at E3, where they said that the PS4 will have no DRM check-ins and no limits on sharing of games.
