Mobile first for Mozilla’s new CEO

Almost a year after Gary Kovac announced he was stepping down as CEO of Mozilla, the board has finally appointed a new leader. That new leader is former CTO, Brendan Eich. Eich has been involved with Firefox since the very beginning, having invented Javascript way back in 1995 when he was an early developer for Netscape Navigator.

As new the CEO of Mozilla, Eich is not only responsible for the browser side of things, but also Mozilla as a mobile operating system. To beef up that side of things, Eich has bought in Li Gong, who has been instrumental in building up Firefox OS. Eich mentioned in an interview with CNET that this highest priority is indeed Firefox OS and getting Firefox-powered handsets into the hands of as many people as possible.
