A group of technology websites and news publications have speculated for months that the long-rumoured iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be revealed at the event. Apple is not specifying whether this is true or not, nor are they suggesting what will be showcased at the event.
The invite card to media outlets reads: “This should brighten everyone’s day”. Apple’s work has been leaked across various news sites over previous months. Bloggers have already showcased the cards colour scheme and it’s similarities to the iOS 7 and what seems to be removable coloured skins for the iPhone 5 however none of this has been officially confirmed by Apple.
The event is nearly a year after Apple launched the iPhone 5 on September 12. It remains a possibility albeit a small one, that Apple will also release details of a new iPad at the event also.
Speculation suggests that the new iPhone will feature an improved camera and fingerprint sensor. It has also been speculated that the company have been working on a cheaper iPhone which may be showcased and discussed at the event.
It is suggested that the cheaper iPhone model may look the same as the normal iPhone but be made of a cheaper material like plastic.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said: “We are really excited about the upcoming releases of iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks, and we are laser-focused and working hard on some amazing new products that we will introduce in the fall and across 2014.”
