Nokia will announce the first ever Windows Phone phablet, the Lumia 1520, on 26th September according to the serial leaker, EvLeaks.
The Lumia 1520 is said to back a 6 inch, 1080p display with a lightweight design. Other reports have said that the Lumia 1520 will also feature 2GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB of storage and an SD card slot.
Windows Phone has stayed away from the larger screen market previously due to the lack of support for the bigger screens. However, with the upcoming GDR3 Windows Phone 8 update, that’s all set to to change. The GDR3 update will bring support for 1080p screens and with that, some software enhancements. Logically, it would seem that the Lumia 1520 will be the first device to ship with the update, because it’ll need the update to work!
