Google has recently announced that they will be overhauling their Advertisement system. This includes using your Google+ data (including your name and profile photo) to make ads more personal, which is not to many people’s taste. However, there are options to restrict this.
To stop Google from using you in their “Shared Endorsement” scheme (i.e. using your Google+ username, profile picture and more) you first need to log in to your Google account, and then navigate to this page. From here, scroll to the bottom of the page and uncheck the “Based upon my activity, Google may show my name and profile photo in shared endorsements that appear in ads” box, then click Save.
There are also a few other options that Google offers you in regards to ad control. If you navigate to the Ad Settings page of your Google account, you should find a number of different settings. Here you can change what Google knows about you. To opt-out of any of Google’s inter based advertisements, you must manually remove all of the subjects listed, and then click “Opt-out” at the bottom of the page.
