According to a rumour from Techcrunch, Microsoft will purchase the product Winamp and Shoutcast from AOL. Both the companies are said to be in talks over the deal and we might hear the outcome any time now. The music player has been around for 15 years and the news about AOL closing it down was a shock to all the users of Winamp. If it closes down it will show us the end of an era.
It’s not clear why AOL chose to close down the Winamp and the related services. See our yesterday’s post about Winamp closing down for more info. We will let you more as we get more information about this deal.
