In an attempt to expand their share of sales related to wearable goods Samsung is reported to considering joining forces with US sports apparel brand Under Armour. This could probably be seen as a direct response to the fruitful collaboration between Apple and Nike which has been going on since 2006.
This would not be the first time the two companies work together. The Samsung S5 Sport, a water-resisitent version the popular phone, was developed together with MapMyFitness which is an fitness app that was acquired by Under Armour.
Tapping into the health and fitness industry has become a natural step for many smartphone makers with performance trackers different wearables. Samsung already has two generations of smartwatches on the market and is rumored to be developing their own version of Google Glass.
Partnering with Under Armour would make sence for both parties. For Samsung, it would strengthen their product offerings on the fitness market an give them new marketing possibilities while Under Armour would benefit from improving their products on the hardware side.
Neither company has confirmed the information but if it turns out to be any truth behind these news Samsung would be insuring that they are not left behind by Apple.
