The much rumored phablet from Sony is now official. Sony recently announced the lunch of their 6.4 inch phablet, Sony Xperia Z Ultra. This new device is not just a bigger version of Sony Xperia Z. Although it has almost all the features of Xperia Z this one has a few additional features of its own.
The announcement was at a launch event at the Shanghai with a parallel even in London. The device is waterproof, and comes with a slim design and 6.4 inch display. The display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 px and is a Triluminos display. Good thing about this display is, it will let you work with a stylus and will support any pen or pencil. The device is quite powerful too. It comes packed with the new quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset along with the 2.2 GHz processor. All this is being powered by a 3000 mAh battery which sony says will be able to power the phablet up to 11 hours of 3G talk time.
Sony Xperia Z Ultra is 4G LTE capable and offers you 16GB internal memory with additional microSD support up to 64GB. The device dimensions are 179.4 x 92.2 x 6.5mm which is quite slimmer than the world’s thinnest Windows 8 tablet Samsung ATIV tab 3, and this makes Xperia Z Ultra, the world’s thinnest android smartphone with full HD display. It weighs 212 grams and comes in black, purple and white.
The 8 mp camera which comes with the device is enough for your camera use with its awesome features. It offers all the features that Sony normally give to the high end Xperia smart phones like HDR, burst shooting etc. There is a front camera with 2 mp too. Another good thing about this device is its water proof 3.5 mm audio jack. Now this means you don’t have to cover up the audio jack to make the device completely water proof unlike many other devices.
There aren’t much information regarding the pricing and availability of the device except it will be available some where around the third quarter of 2013.
