For the entire Star Wars fan out there, Google has a surprise for you. Before the release of the new Star Wars film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, Google has joined hands with Disney and Lucasfilm to develop a new equipment which makes you able to choose the theme of the apps. The apps include Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome and others with “Light Side” or “Dark Side”, based on your own choice. Once you change the appearance, they will appear on other devices too, which includes iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Chromebook, but there is a catch; as Google stated that YouTube and Gmail will work only on desktop with the exception of Chrome.
This is a type of commercial of this particular brand, which is very effective for this most awaited movie which is due to release on December of 2015. Google explained that the idea for this tool came from a number of fans who works at the company, and their goal was to give a tribute to “Episode VII” from Google. They first came up with the idea as soon as they heard about the movie.
Although they are saying that even if you are not a fan of the franchise you will like the new tool as playing with a new tool is just too much fun, and for the first time you are able to change the theme of all the Google’s apps with one single click. Before; the numbers of themes were limited and you had to choose only from Google’s own themes, but now things are different.
Now you can choose your theme, even choose your side. You will be able to see this new good looking theme on a wide range of Google’s products such as Android Ware, it has got a new watch face; Google Chrome where as soon as you open a new tab scenes from the movie appears; New backgrounds were added to Chromecast and there is also themed version of Gmail and inbox’s email apps and many more.
But as it turns out the surprise is not limited only to backgrounds and themes your Google Calendar will be filled with events which are related to Star Wars; such as in Google Maps the “pegman” has transformed into a First Order Stormtrooper or to a Resistance Pilot.
C-3PO offers you guidance in mapping app Waze, R2-D2 and BB-8 are also featured here.
Even Google’s virtual assistant names Google Now is filled with Star Wars History trivia.
More new goods are no their way before the movie releases, and fans are offered to post their side of choosing by using social media.
