According to a number of reports and tweets, Google Hangouts and Gtalk is sending texts to wrong multiple recipients. The reports are flooding through twitter, several wesbites and Google’s official groups. The reports hint the bug is limited for people who send text using Gtalk service.
Using Google Talk on Windows 7, they attempted to send messages to work mates and found that they’d been delivered to the wrong employee in one case, and to an ex-employee in another. – TechCrunch user reported.
Google Talk/Google Hangouts have been sending my private messages to multiple, random recipients this afternoon. Be warned–avoid GTalk!

Use Gtalk or Hangouts with caution. We’ve just encountered an issue where messages are going out to wrong recipients.

There have been mroe than 10 reports about this bug in Google’s Product forums too. Some reports say the issue is limited for the people who use GTalk to communicate with the people who have been recently migrated to Google Hangouts. Google has provided a statement saying they are aware of the issue and working on it at the moment.
“We’re investigating reports of an issue with Google Talk. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. For further updates please refer to the Apps Status Dashboard.”
So until Google resolves this issue, I guess its better for you not to use the services for avoiding any potential embarrassments. Since this is a very serious breach of privacy we hope Google will fix it soon enough. Let us know if any of you have noticed this issue.
