Xiaomi which is a China-based smartphone company has added a new feature for the first time to its range; it is a finger print scanner. Today they have revealed the Redmi Note’s third generation model in Beijing.
The Redmi Note 3 has a sensor on its back; it is the new outstanding feature of this 5.5-inch phone, it only costs $140 and the phone will get its first release in China. The phone comes with a beautiful metal body and it has a long battery capacity of 4000mAh.
Under the cover the phone is also amazing; it runs on an Helio X10 chip made by MediaTek. The phone is 8.65mm thick and it weighs 164 grams, it is 4 gram heavier than its predecessor Redmi Note 2 which was released just 3 months ago. Like the previous model the phone has a 13-megapixel front camera and 5-megapixel back camera.
This is the first of many devices that Xiaomi is about to release in future to get finger print scanner, but today’s reveling marks Xiaomi’s first step towards payments space. By using this scanner you can unlock your phone without a password, but it is just the start.
In July, Xiaomi released Mi Wallet, which is a new feature and it is better than Apple Wallet or Apple pay, it not only allows payments, but you can also manage your bank account and many related things. Now Xiaomi is strengthening the base for mobile payment service which can be very helpful for the Mi Wallet.
The Mi Wallet gives you a worldwide service, but some particular options like mobile payment are limited only to China, for now. Xiaomi’s sell has reached up to 60 million last year but this year their goal is to reach 80 million.
The phone is not the only that Xiaomi has reveled today,; they also unveiled their second generation tablet named Mi Pad 2. It has a full metal body, just like Redmi Note 3, but the new Mi Pad is 18% thinner and 38 grams lighter than the older model, and it has a “Champagne Gold” color option.
They have also revealed some details about the new Pad, like this new generation model, is not using Nvidia parts like the previous one, it is powered by Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor with an Intel Atom 64-bit CPU. Its display size is 7.9 inches and it has a 8-megapixel camera in the rear and a 5-megapixel camera in the front. The Mi Pad uses a 6190mAh battery and it supports USB Type-C port.
